Well, where do you actually start when you're ready to look for a job? Do you start going through the newspapers, Craigslist, do you utilize resume banks. Just how would you begin? What happens when you find a job you actually like, now what?

What about your resume, is your resume up to date? Do you even have one? How do you start writing it? Should you write your own? There are a lot of questions, a lot of things to think about when you're getting ready to look for a job. But your number one goal to begin with is to write your resume. A good one, it must make you stand out above the rest! There are many other candidates out there and they are all there all fighting for the same position that you are.

The average employer is accepting anywhere from 500 to 1300 resumes for each position available. Can you stand out above the rest with odds like that? Maybe you had better take a second look at what you have to offer and how you portray yourself.

So, the number one rule is -- never ever write your own, unless you are very savvy on writing about yourself and you can be truly objective. You've got to step back and take notes about what you have to offer, and gather your strong key points. If you don't feel comfortable on your own then make a smart move and hire a professional resume service. It doesn't really matter how good you think you are, you should have a resume professional at least review what you have and go from there.

So how do you begin? How do you find a good resume service? Read reviews and even try the Better Business Bureau. Read opinions and see if there are any complaints against the company, hey that is what they are there for. Utilize these helpful services. Sometimes you have to follow your gut feeling. Give them a call, maybe call two or three companies and compare their services, there attitude and yes even their prices.

Tell them what you're looking for, once you find someone that you are comfortable with, provide them with all of your notes, of course your work history; as much information that you can gather, and send it to your provider and let them do their magic.

Also remember, with a resume "less is better" and employer does not want to sit down and read a 4 to 6 page resume when he has about 800 others to go through. Employers will scan through these very quickly hoping to find a few that grabs their attention with a very professional presentation. There are some very good writers out there, I could name a few. I have had the pleasure of working with few good companies on several occasions; they also provide a great job coaching assistance. But no matter where you go make sure that you are happy with the results, take advantage of guarantees. You pay good money for a quality resume, make sure that it is perfect. This is your future.....
