Extending Your Trip To Machu Picchu

It is a widely recognized fact that those touring Peru will certainly visit Machu Picchu in order to have a great time. If you're on vacation to Peru once you've explored Machu Pichu, Lake Titicaca is the next hot spot destination that should be in your radar. This is a wonderful large body of water which is split between Bolivia and Peru. One of its great claims to fame is that it is among, the, highest navigable lakes on the planet. For seeing Lake Titicaca you can take a bus or board an airplane to Juliaca which is the airport in Puno. Both the ways will take you to Puno where you have to stay for a night. When choosing among bus options choose a direct bus to Puno or perhaps one which will stop at other spots before arriving in Puno. The former takes around seven hours while the latter will take about ten hours, including a stop for lunch. To have entire tour of the lake area the most frequent option taken by tourists is a two days one night stay which includes living in one of the islands, usually Amantani, with a local family. From Puno, you can go on to Arequipa if you've got time or take a flight for Lima if you need to make your flight home. Arequipa is a wonderful place to go if you have a few more days to spend since it will break up your trip back to Lima and give you an opportunity to see the nearby Colca Canyon. This can be reached either on your journey to Arequipa or as a two day trip, there and back, from that city.
