The Information Marketer

by Stephen Monday

People "buy" information every day…and I am not simply talking about dropping a twenty (as a tip) to the cab driver who tells you where all of the "good, action" nightclubs and "hot" spots are.

Nor am I referring to the thousands of e-books or paid subscription Newsletters folks receive on a regular basis. I am talking about how to learn the "what" people want to know specifically, and then capitalizing that into an enterprise.

America is still in the "Information Age," and I do not see that coming to an end anytime soon; there is still "too much to learn" in regards to that. However, we have moved towards a new direction concerning information itself.

In the last twelve years or so, just about everything has "went digital." From television, to cable modems, to I-phones, and even some automobiles. Any sort of mass-produced information-based product has swiftly gone into the digital form.

What were the reasons for this transition? Consider this; the computer age allows information to fly at light speed, where analog snails along at the speed of sound. Light speed moves at - 186,000 miles-per-second, where the speed of sound is merely 1,100 feet per-second.

To summarize my point, I believe that making the transition from "analog" to "digital" gives information the opportunity to move at 200,000 times the speed that it used to move. This cannot help but to make it even more appealing to buyers.

This is a most basic summary between analog and digital. It is not the purpose, or topic of this article to make this definition. This is to simplify in the readers mind why it is needed that information be transformed from the "print" form into a more media friendly format.

This way it can be accessed, transferred and utilized much more quickly. It seems that speed plays a huge role in the American need for better, faster information-based materials. Nowadays, complete documents are created in a matter of minutes, or hours; yet they are delivered in mere seconds.

Today people want specific, detailed information that is insightful, thought provoking, and useful to their needs. When you can get access to what they want and deliver it to them in a prompt, yet viable manner to their need - you can become an information marketer.

This is why the e-book markets have continued to rise in numbers, year after year since the advent of the World Wide Web. It has provided the means, as well as the manner to move important information quickly and easily.

This "digital" age allows new businesses to pop up literally overnight. You do not even need a license to create your own digital product. It can be in the form of an e-book, a sales video, or a teaching course in something you have expertise in.

This is yet another reason that home based businesses have exploded onto the marketing scene in the last twenty-five years. Are you thinking about creating your own digital product? Now is the time to take advantage of this market.
