If you are a webmaster or a website owner, you're likely to have a control panel that you can access to manage and configure your domain, your web hosting settings and other options related to your website. Control panels often have mutiple functions available and often link to a variety of different areas for managing your account, but it is a central location where you should firstly get access to in order to make changes and manage your website.

A domain control panel is the place where you can manage your registered domain names, it will sometimes be incorporated with your hosting control panel if you run your domain and your hosting account through the same provider. Finally, if you want your domain to redirect to a different host or web page, you can set it up in the forwarding section of your domain control panel.

Hosting Control Panel

Your hosting control panel will vary quite a bit depending on your hosting provider and whether you have regular or server hosting. However, there are still several main components that you can expect to see in any hosting control panel, and common selections include: website domain manager, a file manager, FTP and account settings, traffic statistics and one click installer & software management.

Website domain manager is the place to add your domain name to your web server, to have a domain name setup and display your website on the Internet, you have two things to do, first one is point your domain DNS to your web server,this is done in your domain control panel, and the second one is to add your domain to your web server, you can do that in through website domain manager.

Your file manager will allow you to look through the files saved on your hosting provider's server, similar to the way that you can browse files on your computer. FTP and account management will help you set up FTP and login settings that allow you to upload your content to your website. Stats and analytics will show you things like how much bandwidth and storage space you have used, and it will sometimes also include general information regarding visitors to your website.

One click installer and software management allows you to see what programs and plug-ins are available and installed on your domain. For example, WordPress is a very popular website add-on that is a both a blog and a content management system. Many hosting providers are now also offering a set of Internet applications as a part of their hosting package that you can install to your domain for free just by a few clicks. That makes it much easier for users that are not quite familiar with installing the applications manually.
