Which is the best electronic cigarette for me
The question "What is the best electronic cigarette?" is a frequently asked question and should probably be listed in any FAQ's on the electronic cigarettes in general. I think however that the question should be rephrased, possibly to, "What electronic cigarette is the best for me?", or even "Which electronic cigarette should I buy?" This is because the question is more often than not asked by newbies to e-smoking, and what they are really saying is, "If I were to start using e-cigarettes which e-cigarette should I start with?" If this is your question you might want to check out the Getting Started page.
There is of course, no right answer to this question, like everything else it depends on personal tastes, both with e-liquid and the shape and design of the electronic cigarette itself. . For instance I really like the compactness and simplicity of the eGo CE5 starter kit, for me this is a plug and play solution, there is no need to have great technical expertize or an in-dept understanding of e-smoking to use it. In my opinion it is excellent for the beginner who just wants to get started, literally screw the clearomizer onto the battery, fill it up with e-liquid and you're good to go. But when I showed it to a hardened smoker friend, she wasn't very impressed. She said she thought it was way too big and ugly and that she would prefer something smaller, something that didn't look so obvious, something perhaps that looked more like a real cigarette. At the risk of sounding sexist, maybe she perceived the CE5 as too masculine. I have a Mini BE510 starter kit on order which I'm going to let her try as soon as I get it, it is definitely smaller, closer to real cigarette size and also easy to use as it's a replacement cartridge system, so just a couple of screw together pieces. Also when she tried the CE5 there was no nicotine in the mix, just plain e-juice, so she didn't get any throat hit. It just seemed to her that she was dragging on this over sized stick and not getting much out of it, when you are a full time smoker you really need nic juice to come close to real smoking.
I'll report back on her response to the BE510 with e-juice with nicotine, but what I'm really trying to say here is that everybody is different, there is no right way to answer the question of the best e-cigarette and most people will not have a range of e-cigs available for them to try. I think if you want to help an existing smoker to convert to e-cigs, or if you are that smoker, then it is important to get it right the first time. The advice I would give is this:
1. There are a lot of people who have successfully given up smoking tobacco and are now vaping. This is a reality, so there must be something in it. The principles in all e-cigarettes are basically the same, some of the earlier ones required more user involvement, but technology is moving rapidly and the later models are aiming at the user friendly market.
2. Know that there are a lot of options available, it can get complex because dedicated vapers are very innovative and experiment with modifying their vaping gear. They have become a technical interest group on their own, and discussions online may be confusing to the new starter. Don't let it put off, there are very easy starting packages, like the CE5 and the Mini BE510 mentioned above. The only addition I would make to buying one of them is to make sure you get a few different e-juices to try out and although you can't buy nicotine e-liquid in Australia, you can get it from our offshore partner site at www.eliquidsdirect.net.
3. It's important to do a little research and not give up at the first hurdle, here at Oz E-Cigarette we try and keep it simple, but you really have to try to imagine how you would like it to look and feel and how you would like it to taste. After you get a bit of an idea of what you want, look for the products that you think is the closest fit. For e-juices, perhaps start with tobacco flavour because after all that's what you want to replace, pick a nicotine density that is similar to the-cigarettes you are smoking now. You really have to try and replicate your current smoking experience as far as taste is concerned, and if you don't get it first time, don't give up because it's worth it.
Ultimately the best electronic cigarette is the one that's right for you and whats right for you may not be right for someone else. Such is life, happy vaping.
