How To Blog [1 of 5 Step Process]

by Kyle Arrington

BEFORE YOU START BLOGGING...

People waste countless hours blogging with absolutely no results. Yes, Google does like fresh content, absolutely.

We first need to decide what are we going to blog about with the end in mind!It is the same as Stephen Covey's 2nd habit in 7 Habits of Highly Successful People. The ability to see what is not yet present, it is based on your imagination.

There is a mental creation before the physical creation.

On a larger scale, in life if you don't have a visual of who you want to become, you end up living life by default instead of by design.

I once knew a lady that is extremely creative. When she was younger she got a factory job thinking it would be a temporary job until she could do something she really enjoyed.

Thirty years later she retired from that job. To me that is sad because she didn't create that vision for what she was passionate about.

On a smaller scale, for those that go for their email first, they are living by default as well. When you go to your inbox first thing in the morning, you get distracted by other people's agendas. Word from the wise, don't get your email until you have nothing left to do that day.

So, what is your vision for the post?

What do we want our readers to do?

If you have a home based business and you are selling a product, give them a solution to a problem they might have. Then segway in to the benefits of your product or if it is an article, just give value and leave your link in the author box.

If it is the season to plant tomatoes and you want to write about what you do to grow amazing tomatoes. That's fine, if you are promoting a certain business, it may be a little harder to convert them into a sale, but not impossible.

You could put a banner ad that says something like, "Get paid to blog about gardening". That is targeting them and telling them they can get paid to write about their passion.

The great part about blogging is that people get to know, like and trust you. If you are blogging about your interests, you will attract others with similar interests. That's partly how we get to choose who we work with.

So it is true that you CAN blog about your passion while generating leads for your home based business, your results may be a little different than someone else that is blogging about article marketing or facebook advertising.

The latter will attract readers that already have the mindset you are looking for in a home based business.
