My Perfect Handbag

I'm afraid it is a fact that most women's body shapes would not suit the flamboyant styles from the cat walk and you may not be able to walk very far in the latest high heels but fortunately this is not so with fashion accessories. Whether it's a classic or bang on trend handbag, with the right bag you are sorted. Or "fatto e finito" as the Italians would say. There is a bewildering and vast range of bags to choose from. Whether it's designer or high street there are so many different shapes and sizes, large and small, soft and sloppy, rigid and structured. Long gone are the days when any bag will do. So, what to choose?
I personally find a structured top handle grab bag to be more practical, I can never find anything inside a floppy soft hobo because as soon as you put it down the shape has changed and so have the whereabouts of the contents. I do like the option of a detachable and adjustable shoulder strap as this adds versatility and choice and even if it is never used it is very trendy just to let it dangle.
It does of course need to be stylish, made in excellent leather with characteristic designer detailing that includes gorgeous hardware that sets it apart and exudes quality without being blingy. On a practical level the size of the bag should be large enough but not too large and have room to contain all those essentials a girl needs and the interior if not lined, come with an inner purse. I do like a selection of compartments and pockets both zipped and open. A zipped side for valuables, a central dividing compartment and of course a mobile phone pouch.
A wise shopper will invest in a classic bag that is timeless and will not date and go just as well with casual jeans as it does a smart evening dress. And by purchasing a beautifully made bag, it should last a lifetime, especially if created by artisans using traditional methods in gorgeous long lasting fine leather. Don't be seduced by a bargain that seems too good to be true, as it probably is. The general rule is you get what you pay for.
So for me it's a structured grab bag that is a classic shape, boring I know but in black or tan, not too big to be carried by it's top handles, made in sumptuous leather with great hardware and lots of internal pockets and above all, it's about quality, quality, quality. As this is a bag I will use day in day out for many years to come.
