Which European Country Should You Set Up Your New Business In?

Don't choose your destination based on the weather report.

During a global economic crisis it may not be advisable to start or move any business, but if you really need to, there are a few countries which have favourable rules and laws for new businesses. There are a number of factors to consider when looking for your new home country; the first is probably the tax laws. Does your target country offer positive tax incentives for businesses? The next thing to look at is lifestyle. Will you enjoy living there and will you be setting up somewhere that will use your business? Also, you need to consider the labour costs. Will you be able to afford to pay your staff?

Poland

Poland is one of the best countries for setting up a new business in Europe. It has a very low tax rate for new businesses when compared to the UK, US and Denmark and with a large amount of cheap labour available, paying your workers will not be a problem. Also, second language in Poland is English, there is an extremely fast growing infrastructure thanks to lots of input from the EU and lawyers and accountants are available and significantly cheaper than elsewhere. Poland is almost completely westernised despite what some people might think, with a visit, especially to the capital, being much like a visit to any other major European city. So you can be confident that there will be a market for your business.

Cyprus

Cyprus is another great European destination for new business ventures. There are good tax rates for any new Cyprus offshore company and with a wide number of services available for business owners to set up things like bank accounts and mortgages. It is a good idea to employ a lawyer too though, to make sure all your applications and forms are filled in correctly as there are strict penalties for messing them up. Despite this, setting up business in Cyprus is a pleasure and much of the administration for Cyprus company incorporation can be handled by professional firms with experience in this field.

UK

Despite being in the midst of a financial crisis, the word is that the UK is one of the best places in the world for setting up a technology business right now. With relatively new giant companies like Google currently looking for a European base, London is tipped to be their likely destination, especially with UK government support. What this means is that other tech companies are likely to follow creating a new tech hub in the UK, so if you have a tech company aiming to take root where other influential tech companies will be, the UK is the best destination.
