How to Find the Most Ideal Medical Imaging Parts Distributor
Selecting the Most Ideal Medical Imaging Parts Vendor
If you are a biomedical engineering technician, you may be in charge of locating and purchasing medical imaging parts for the biomedical equipment that you are in charge of maintaining. As you know, there are dozens and possibly hundreds of providers of medical imaging parts available to choose between. The question is, how do you choose which medical imaging part supplier to use?
Inventory The most important thing to remember is that whatever medical imaging parts supplier you choose to work with has to carry replacement parts for the equipment you maintain. Most vendors have convenient on-line inventories that will help you determine which suppliers meet most of your needs for medical imaging parts.
Cost Cost isn't a clear-cut issue. If you look for the smallest cost, you may find yourself with medical imaging parts that are inferior in quality. Yet, you most certainly don't want to have your budget suffer by paying top prices if there's another option. There are two things you should consider. First, is the medical imaging part inherently intricate so that you ought to apply a "get what you pay for" principle and buy premium? Or, is the part relatively uncomplicated so that the "plain vanilla" inexpensive version will do? Second, if the total amount of money you'll spend is substantial enough to warrant the work, glance at the range of prices in the marketplace. If there's a general range, that probably means that you will be charged about the same price everywhere you go, so go ahead and buy the medical imaging part based on other criteria. If there are dramatic highs and lows in the price range, you require an understanding of why these differences exist. For instance, is the inexpensive supplier able to keep his overhead so low that everything is a bargain? Or is he selling a cheap product?
Warranty What type of warranty is offered by the supplier? If medical imaging parts are refurbished, who is refurbishing? Is there ISO-based quality control?
Return/Exchange policy What is their policy for returning a medical imaging part that has been incorrectly ordered? Is there a time limit? Can you get your money back or is it exchange only?
Shipping Shipping and handling fees are sometimes the hidden high cost component of the purchase price. Make sure you are aware of all shipping and handling costs ahead of time. Also, can the company assure you that you will be able to receive medical imaging parts overnight?
Customer service Will the company work with you to resolve any problems, whatever they may be? Is customer service available all day every day? Are there BMETs available to assist you in troubleshooting medical imaging parts problems if necessary?
Use this checklist to evaluate vendors. Select two or three vendors that you can rely on. Don't depend exclusively on one vendor for all your needs; don't forget the "all my eggs in one basket" rule.
