VA Home Loan Can Save Veterans $26,450 Or More!

by Philip Georgiades

Would you like to save about $26,450 on a $100,000 home loan purchase? Would you like to avoid placing a down-payment when buying a home? You can if you use a VA loan. If you have served at least 2 years in the military or 90 days during a war, you may qualify for a VA home loan

Before filling out a VA home loan application, veterans should make sure their credit is in order, as the VA requires good credit to be approved for a no-money-down loan. If a veteran has poor credit, he may have to put down a sizable down payment to secure the property, presuming he is approved for a VA home loan in the first place. However, once the veteran receives a loan, making pyments on time will help raise their credit score. If a veteran has any concerns about credit, they should consult VA Home Loan Centers to explore thier options for credit repair prior to applying for a VA loan.

The VA home loan application process is no more complicated than any other home loan application process. The eligible recipient of the VA loan, will need to submit a request a Certificate Of Eligibility form VA Home Loan Centers. In addition to this, they will need W2s, 1099s or other tax documents demonstrating steady employment. Veterans generally have to submit their last two tax returns, although self-employed veterans must submit their last three schedule C returns. Once the veteran submits the VA loan application, the Veterans Administration evaluates the applicant's credit-worthiness and income level as well as appraising the proposed home's value. There is no standard time frame for completion of loan processing but usually will take approximatley 30 days. The more information the applicant provides on his/her application, the more likely it is that the VA will process their application reasonably quickly.

Once VA Home Loan Centers processes the application, it forwards it to the loan insurer for underwriting. The insurer may request additional information from the veteran before approving the loan; however, if no additional information is needed, the loan may be approved within two days. The investor then requests and prints the veteran's loan documents and sends them to her to sign and return. It then takes another three to four days to provide money directly to the veteran's lender for closing costs.

Interested persons can apply for VA loans by telephone, regular mail, fax or online.
