Sweating is a natural occurrence caused by many factors such as physical activity, temperature, anxiety, and stress. However, it can become excessive and embarrassing when this happens. This excessive sweating is usually due to anxiety and is known as hyperhidrosis. There are two common types of hyperidrosis primary and secondary. Primary is due to an overactive sympathic nervous system, creating an overabundance of stress causing a suffer to sweat profusely. Secondary is caused by a health issue such as a problem with the thyroid. Sufferers of this disorder are faced with a vicious cycle of occurrence. Since they get nervous in social situations due to being overly conscious of sweating, it makes them even more anxious causing them to sweat even more.

The good news is there are some things you can do to decrease the amount of sweat you produce. This can be done through diet change, or use of antidepressants, and beta blockers. Simple changes in the diet is one way of how to stop sweating due to anxiety. Unhealthy, fatty, and sugary foods can cause toxins to build up in your body and you sweat as a way to remove these impurities. Increasing the amount of water you drink a day can greatly aid the body in flushing out these toxic materials from your organs. Cut down on the amount of caffeine, alcohol, and nicotine you consume which can also stimulate the sympathetic nervous system to over react. Water also helps to regulate body temperatures and lower the amount of perspiration produced by the body. In addition, cut down on the amount of processed foods and meat that you consume. Increase your intake of vegetables, fruit, and raw foods.

Taking antidepressants will calm the sympathetic nervous system and reduce anxiety thereby decreasing sweat production. Beta blockers also work to control the sympathetic nervous system by blocking non-adrenalin and adrenalin's effects. This helps to decrease the effect that anxiety produces in your body lowering the amount of sweat that is produced during anxiety producing situations. Another advantage of beta blockers is that they can be taken only as needed and not on a daily basis. Making some simple changes to your everyday life can help to get this embarrassing occurrence under control. This should help, but there are plenty of other options and products to help in the marketplace. Anxiety, also makes you sweat under certain conditions, but that will be covered in a separate article.
