The Good And Bad About Emulators

One of the greatest joys a gamer can have is to play his or hers favorite game in a more powerful console. That's why ports and emulators are very popular to video game fans. They bring old games to newer consoles and improve them tremendously. Especially when you use emulators for the PC, you can adjust the graphics and even tweak the frame rate speed. With the current advancements in technology, gamers today are very lucky.
In the realm of emulators, one of the best Nintendo 64 emulators currently available is Project64. When Project64 suddenly popped out of nowhere a few years ago, people were surprised with how well it can play various game ports of N64 titles. It also had very few bugs and almost none in some games. Emulator fans were raving about Project64, giving it positive reviews and garnering a near perfect 4.5 star rating in Emulator Zone, an emulator gaming portal. It can run almost all N64 games, ranging from adventure games like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time to the shooters like Golden Eye 007 and Star Fox 64. Project64 also surpassed the "legendary" UltraHLE in the number of downloads, thus making it the most acquired Nintendo64 emulator to date. Other emulators such as 1964 and Nemu64 tried to overtake Project64 in both performance and downloads, but to no avail.
Another good thing about emulators is that you can now use them in your smartphones. As long as your phone is powerful enough to run the emulator, you can play any game from that console. Just imagine playing Final Fantasy 7 like it was a mobile phone game like Snake or Angry Birds while waiting for the bus. Isn't that amazing? However, it would be very unlikely for emulators to beat popular gaming apps like Temple Run and Angry Birds for being the most played games on smart phones. Especially Angry Birds, an app available for download at the Iphone and Android app stores, which has thousands of monthly users online. The reason for the popularity of gaming apps like Temple Run and Angry Birds could be due to their simple controls. Angry Birds is one of the easiest strategy games in the world; even those who haven't even heard of said game before can learn it in a heartbeat. A person can just watch a couple of videos on youtube and that would be enough for him to learn the game. these types of games is also proven to be a good activity to release stress, perfect for people who want to relax and unwind in their free time. Playing emulators can be relaxing too, but it depends on the person who's playing.
The negative thing about emulators is that they are not officially licensed by the console creators. It's still in the players' discretion though if they want to play them or not. But for true gamers, the benefits of emulators just outweigh all the negativity about them.
