Credit Cards - Store cards get their comeuppance
Store cards have been getting away with charging extortionate interest rates for years, now the government watchdog, the Competition Commission, has finally brought about some changes. It would seem that the credit card industry is forcing customers to pay £55 - £100 million a year more than they should be on interest and other overpriced penalty charges such as on missed and late payments. For at least 3 years these practices have been able to continue unabated - until now. It’s the Store cards that are really causing these ructions – the most expensive of which charges interest at an unbelievable 30.9.
