Advantages And Disadvantages Of RO Water Purifier
Water Purifiers are used to clear pollutants and other harmful components from water. Looking at the pollution levels in water, it has become an utmost necessity to use RO Water Plant. Contaminated water becomes the cause of many diseases such as diarrhea, vomiting, ingestion, etc. These waterborne diseases can be fatal sometimes causing deaths of many people. Hence, from the safety point of view, it is necessary to install Water Purification Systems to ensure the safety and health of people for whom you always remain concerned.
Filtration is basically a process by which water contaminants are removed from water by forcing it through a porous media. There are various processes of filtration such as microfiltration, ultra filtration, Nano filtration and Reverse Osmosis. Reverse osmosis is commonly referred to as RO and it is a process of demineralizing or deionizing water by pushing it through a permeable Reverse Osmosis Membrane. Now, let us know about the Reverse Osmosis Water Plant in detail.
Reverse Osmosis Water Filters utilize the naturally occurring osmosis phenomenon. In this process, weaker saline solutions migrate to stronger saline solutions.
How Does A Reverse Osmosis System Work? It works by using high pressure pumps that increase the pressure on the salt side of RO and force the water to move across the semi-permeable RO membrane. In this way, all the rejected salts are left behind in the reject stream. The amount of pressure required is dependent upon the salt concentration of feed water. More the concentration, more the pressure is required to overcome the osmotic pressure. Hence, whenever feed water is pumped into the Reverse Osmosis System, two types of water come out of it that is good water and bad water. The good water is also known as permeate water containing very little amount of contaminants. The bad water containing the contaminants is unable to pass through RO membrane and is known as brine, concentrate or reject.
RO Water Purifier is beneficial in removing almost 80 to 90 percent of mineral contaminants including copper, lead, chromium, etc. It can also remove harmful microorganisms such as giardia, E. coli, enteric and rotavirus.
