International Superster Soccer for the Super Nintendo - The Grand Father of Soccer Simulation

One of my favorite Super Nin­tendo Game is The Inter­na­tional Super Star Soc­cer Delux. Yes the name is quite long, but it is an awesome game. This game was released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) during the 90's; International Superstar Soccer was a big hit release in Latin American coutries, and is a very rare game in the United States. In Europe it is a common game with very low value.

The first time I play this game, I was about 5 years old. The only per­son in the whole town that had a Super Nin­tendo was my cousin, Ivan; we lived in a very small town in North Mexico. He was the first one to ever own a NES in our home town and the first one to get the Super Nin­tendo. I remem­ber he got ISSD (International Superstar Soccer Delux) for his birthday; his brother, Junior (that's how we call him), brought the game from Mon­ter­rey, Mex­ico. Mon­ter­rey, at the time was the mother-load of Super Nin­tendo games, Pirates, Imports, Orig­i­nals, New releases etc. There were many manufacturers and assemblers companies for SNES games in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico

We fell in love with the game; we could not stop play­ing it; but I was watch­ing most of the time. I remem­ber at that time, my father, for some estrange reli­gious rea­son, did not let me play video games. Who knew I was going to turn out like this, and be a massive SNES collector and ISSD fan. I remem­ber that when I was sick, I needed to get some really painful shots; after every shot, for me to stop cry­ing, my dad will let me play video games with my cousin, and of course I always chose ISSD. One day, my other cousin bor­rowed ISSD from Ivan, and that night his house got robbed, and we lost ISSD.

Konami, the publisher company for ISSD released very low quan­tity of copies in the US, if not none! When I started col­lect­ing, I always hoped to find a copy of this game, but I was never lucky. I had to go look deeper, so I went to look on the mother-load of snes games! I went to Mon­ter­rey dur­ing a Christ­mas break, and I finally found not one, but two copies of ISSD for SNES. Unfor­tu­nately, I just bought one because the other one was in really bad shape and very prob­a­ble was a pirate cart!

ISSD for the SNES has a rank of 8.5 out of 10 in a rar­ity scale. You can find copies of this game on Ebay for over 100 dollars. There is another ver­sion of Inernational Superstar Soccer, but is not the "Delux" version; this is still a bit rare but not as much as the "Delux" version.

This game is the best Soc­cer sim­u­la­tion for non-3D graph­ics con­soles that I has ever been made for a Nintendo console, and prob­a­bly that life has recorded.
