Changing Times: California’s Love for Taxi

In the past, having a ride to take you to the workplace will already suffice your day to day needs. But with the advancement in the way people live their lives and the number of changes in the attitude of people’s ways of traveling; there also came advancement in terms of the way people buy cars and the way they treat their cars. In the past decades; we have witnessed an amount of cars that came out yearly from the different manufacturers all over the globe. From a sedan to an SUV; you name it, all of these cars were hauled from factories to garage.

Changes in the way people buy their vehicles alter in virtually every few decades. In the past, cars were never meant to be part of the people’s lives. As commercialization of cars grew into its biggest proportion in the beginning of Ford’s existence as the first car company to ever publicly sell motorized vehicles; it was coming that more manufacturers are coming to join the bandwagon and it did.

But recently, with the turn of events that happened during the economic crisis; people have retracted their pockets and changed their ways in buying their motorized vehicles. With a lesser buying power; it was foreseeable that the car industry is now facing a slope that is heading downwards than upwards. With the gas prices which fluctuate to heights that weren’t reasonable and the cost of repairs are getting pricier as days gone by; some are no longer interested to be part of the already big population of car owners.

This is the reason why taxis nowadays are getting popular. In the different places of California, whether you are going to the airport or headed to your room for a vacation; taxi companies are more than willing to make the arrangement for you. So what do taxis offer that wasn’t offered by cars? Unlike private cars; getting around the city through taxis are cheap (compared to the price of the car) and you don’t have to get lost especially if you are not familiar with the place.

Nowadays, finding a yellow cab in CA is pretty much easier compared in the past years. Could this mean that the number of taxis operating in the state increased? Perhaps this is true. It is now true that you could easily find a ride when you are trying to seek a yellow cab in Burlingame or finding a yellow cab in San Francisco. With the most courteous, and safety cautious drivers that prioritize passengers like in a VIP; we couldn’t blame the passengers for patronizing the industry. For this reason, airport taxi in Redwood City as well as the San Francisco airport taxi now has great services whether you will be heading to your hotel or heading to your flight.

Could this signify that in the coming years, more taxis are going to populate the roads than privately owned vehicles? If we are basing our conclusion from the past two years; this could ultimately be true. But with the way things are going in the car industry; one thing is for certain. Taxi companies nowadays are getting the attention and the respect they deserve.
