How To Blog - Producing Content [Step 3 of 5]
Suffering from "Writers block?" There are all kinds of ways to get over this, but when we are experiencing it it's hard to decide where to go and what to do.
A few ideas are Youtube and watch videos, read a book, "Google it".
My best advice is visit Google's blogs.
Go to Google and search "Google blogs" and it will come up in search.
Now you can put in your keyword phrase you decided on in Step 2 to find content on other blogs.
Google blogs is one of those hidden jewels that we don't know about.
I found it by watching a training on blogging.
You could just Google a keyword phrase, but the great part about searching within Google blogs is that you don't have to weed through the wikipedia, the MSN. Not to say these sites might not have good content as well, but as we are blogging we want blogging ideas.
In step 1 I went in to having the end in mind when beginning your blog post. Then I shared a couple examples of topics with the end in mind.
What I strive for is to give great nuggets, the meat and potatoes. I'd rather not BS so my post or article looks longer. I want to keep their attention.
People also like metaphors or story telling.
My pastor tells a story every week in his sermon, do you know what I remember most about the sermon? Yes… his story:)
In marketing, we are taught to journal different stories that happen to us in life and use them to teach.
The other day my 6 year old son was getting ready to take a bath after dinner. He said, "I think I'm going to throw up." (He had too much milk with dinner)
I got him a bowl and asked him to get in the bath.
Him: What if I throw up?Me: You will be in the tub and we can wash you off Him: If it gets in the tub it will get all over my body Me: Honey, we are worrying about something that may not even happen. We will deal with it if it does.
I stopped and thought to myself, huh, what a concept. Don't worry about something until it actually happens.
Marketing is ALWAYS a test, I can't tell you how many times I've thought, "What if" to the point that I didn't take action.
How about you? Can you identify with that?
That my friend is exactly how it's done. If you are a parent, you are probably able to resonate with that and relation to marketing.
