Just about everybody who has wanted to make money online has been tempted by at least one MLM offer. You know what MLM is. Don't you? Multi Level Marketing is what MLM stands for. It is a particular business model that many people confuse with illegal pyramids schemes. When a sale is made, you get a certain percentage, and the person above you, the person that hired you, also gets a percentage of the sale. You then hire someone else and earn from their work (and the person who hired you earns as well) and so on and so forth. It's easy to get taken in by the promise of prosperity. Just about the biggest lie told by Multi Level Marketing is that it is a brand new way of finding happiness and financial freedom. It was already spreading around the Internet even in the mid-90s, but prior to that you were just expected to hassle your friends, neighbors and family to join up. These days, the vast majority of people are already wary of MLM opportunities, so they stay away from them. This could be the biggest reason why people who are new to MLM find it so hard to get any new recruits interested in their opportunity.

They want you to view MLM as something else other than the pyramid scam that it really is, all because of the physical products that are being sold. However, MLM is set up just like one of these schemes. Just because you are promoting products and not mailing your money to another person, this does not remove the possibility for a scam. The courts had to make a ruling on this because it was so difficult to decipher. Now at least seventy percent have to be promoted and sold to non distributors. Anything other than this is considered to be a scam.

Plenty of multi level marketers want you to believe that there is no risk involved with this type of business. This is because the vendor will take the product back if you have a hard time selling it. The truth is that usually these buyback programs have terrible and complicated rules about how much you can sell back. There is such a short amount of time to return products. Normally, you will not receive the full amount back that you paid in the beginning.

There are all sorts of myths surrounding the MLM landscape. A lot of those myths are designed to make multi-level marketing seem like the greatest way to earn money ever.
