Tips To Keep Your Kids From Getting Bored During Road Trips

Now that you have booked your holiday accommodation, and you have prepared and packed everything you need to take with you for your family vacation, there is one more thing you shouldn't forget and it's how to entertain your kids during the whole trip. Sure, everything could be calm and manageable at the start but as the hours pass by, your kids might start to complain of boredom.

Yes, if you are going to have a long trip one of these days and you have young kids who are coming along, there is a big chance for chaos to ensue--uncontrollable tantrums, cries and screams. The good news is that there are easy ways to avoid such problems when driving to your destination. So, here are some ideas that can save you from the annoying whines and questions such as like "are we there yet?" "when will we arrive?" and "it's sooo boring"

1. Play games

By far, the easiest thing to do is to play some games with your kids. A classic one is "I Spy", wherein you can ask your children to find items in the car. For example, you can say "I spy with my little eye something red" and they will try to find red shoes, cans and whatnot. However, if you run out of things to spy at some point, well, you have to think of another pastime. If your kids know how to count, then a "counting game" can be a great distraction. Ask them to count other cars with a specific color or some things that you may pass by during the trip such as cows or horses. If you like to, you can also offer a small prize for whoever wins the games such as additional scoop of ice cream at the next stop or a small pack of gummy bears.

2. Bring toys

During the long trip to your accommodation in your chosen location, your kids' favorite toys can keep them busy. However, select ones that are not that bulky, or else, you'll be uncomfortable inside the car. Small toys such as cars, dolls and video games can be handy during your road trip.

3. Play CD's or audiobooks

Making use of technology can also be very enjoyable for you and your kids. During your drive to your accommodation, you can get some audiobooks or radio plays and if possible, choose ones that can roughly cover the full travel time.

All in all, don't worry too much about getting there; it's your vacation and you should enjoy every moment. Well, your kids may sleep through the whole drive, but being prepared is essential just in case they get really bored on the way.
