Ideas For A Great Relationship - Living By Principles - Advice On Life From Lou Holtz
Have you ever heard something and thought wow I really need to write that down? Well I was watching the game last night and I heard some advice that I want to pass on to you today. This advice was given by Lou Holtz. For those of you who don't know Lou, he is a retired football coach, a broadcaster, and a motivational speaker. This is some of the most amazing information I have ever heard and it is so simple that once you read this you will probably never forget about it. I think that is one of the reasons it is so powerful. This can really become a part of who you are right now.
The guy has had a really great life. Last night he was talking to Shaun White, Shaun is a famous skateboarder and snowboarder. Shaun was asking Lou some questions and Lou said he has kept his life together with this simple idea. He put these 3 questions down on paper:
1) Will this help me to be the best (fill in the blank) in the world?
2) Will this help my family (financially and otherwise)?
3) Is this something that I want to do?
Lou told Shaun that every time he had a question come up in his life he pulled out that 3x5 card and asked himself those questions. The answer to those questions helped him decide whether or not he was going to do something. What a great way to lead your life. I think this is called living according to principles. What are your principles? What is it in your life that you want to be the very best at?
Have you actually sat down and thought that through well enough? I challenge you to sit down and think about the things that are important in your life. Then take out a 3x5 card and fashion a set of questions like Lou's. If you ask yourself these questions before every decision you make you will head in the right direction.
If it works for Lou Holtz, and it works for Shaun White, maybe it can work for you! This was great advice from a great source. I am going to start using this myself to remain principled in my daily living. Take this and put it into practice and you will see positive results.
