From Home to Hollywood: Celebrate a Famous TV Character With Homemade Party Supplies

by Gail Leino Leino

Regardless of which TV character theme serves as the center of a child's party, general handmade party supplies like hats, blowouts, confetti, and party favor bags are available to fit that theme. A themed party for children is a great way to celebrate their favorite TV characters with their friends and family. Sure, it's easy to buy pre-made party supplies, but it's far more fun to create your own. Homemade party supplies are very simple to make, inexpensive and a whole lot of fun.

Party Hats: What is your child's favorite TV character?. Is it Dora The Explorer? Wow Wow Wubbzy? SpongeBob Square? Marvel Super Hero Squad? Party hats for these TV themed parties can be made from simple materials such as decorative colored paper such as yellow, blue, green, and purple, sheet of double-sided adhesive, colored vellum, white glue, and 10-inch plates.

Party blowouts: No child's party is complete without fun handmade blowouts to enjoy. Basic materials to create blowouts for the invited guests include decorative paper, double-sided adhesive, decorative tape, colored plastic straws, white glue, vellum, pencil, and scissors. And as is the case with the party hats, select blowouts that reflect the theme of the party.

Handmade Confetti: Confetti is a popular party favor and very easy to make. Choose the colors that are appropriate for the TV character themed party. While confetti alone ads to the theme party, try making confetti bombs or confetti shooters for the children For a confetti bomb the materials required are balloons, toothpick, funnel, colored construction paper (confetti) and scissors. Confetti shooters require an electric-powered machine that expels controlled gusts of air such as a blow dryer and plastic container to hold the confetti. Decorate confetti shooters with festively colored glitter, construction paper, and illustrations created with markers. While there might not be enough confetti shooters to give to all children at the party, pass the confetti shooter around so each child has the opportunity to shoot the confetti.

Party Favor Bags:Goodie Bags: As the party winds down, give each gest a decorative party favor bag as a memento. Just make sure that extra party bags are available for extra, unexpected guests. Party favor bags require basic materials found at any arts & crafts store and include paper bags (or small boxes), decorative colored construction paper, markers, tape and scissors. Numerous options are available for decorating and dressing up a party favor bag. In each party favor bag, include a brief thank you note with the child's name on it along with the party favors.
