Would They Ever Make Real Muscle Cars Again?

If you are somebody in your forties or fifties, and you have fond memories of your first car, more than likely you drove an All-American muscle car. There happens to be a growing movement of people throughout the United States shopping for classic muscle cars to restore. The main reason for this is simply because nobody makes cars like this anymore. The main question is who'll start producing them again?

Chevy and Ford are already releasing new versions of Camaro's and Mustangs ever since the 60's. The problem tends to be that with each passing edition, they move away from the raw power of a muscle car to something more technologically advanced. Will there actually be yet another car which has a 327 and a 4 barrel carburetor? The sad reality is we will probably never have those sorts of cars again.

The actual problem is that people want to constantly make improvements to things just for the sake of it. For example the 1967 Camaro which happens to be one of the most well-liked muscle cars ever created. Although it received many honors and was highly sought after, Chevy stopped producing it. And also this is true of the 1966 Mustang, an amazing car with a great style and they just stopped making it.

Here is the ironic thing. The VW Bug was in fact Volkswagen's most preferred model back in the day, so they re-introduced it many years after the first version was no longer in production. This new Beetle sold nicely in spite of its ultra modern design. If they'd only stuck to the original style, they may have sold more. It's difficult to be successful if you always believe that doing things a new way is always better.

Probably the most crucial question is this. If perhaps Chevy sprang out with a the latest Camaro with a 327 engine and 4 barrel carburetor, and if they left out all the computer equipment and built the car like they used to, how many of you would want one? I've asked hundreds of people throughout the years and the answer was just the same: they would definitely buy one. So why hasn't it happened? If people want the good old days, when is some motor company planning to give people what they demand.

What will it take for GM or Ford to choose to make those classic muscle cars once again? I imagine that they will become hot commodities. But until these firms start taking note of their customers, you'll have people looking for old muscle cars to restore.

We could get lucky and one day these companies will decide to start making them. As of today, the prevailing leaders simply believe adding new technology will make a better muscle car. It's my opinion we ought to just go back to how things were.
