Understanding Wahts is Google Pagerank ?

by Terry Aston

The factors about Google PageRank Calculation is that no one knows exactly how it works, but people have discovered over timesomewhat how it works, but lets get into an example. A more simpler way to think of it is:a page's PageRank = 0. A page "votes" an amount of PageRank onto each page that it links to.

The amount of PageRank that it has to vote with is a little less than its own PageRank value (its own value * 0. Therefore; it would be better to get a page linked to you that has a PageRank of 5 with 2 outbound links thenit would be to have a page linked to you with a PageRank of 8 with 500 outbound links,

but don't get me wrong. Now the Google PageRank algorithm is based between a pr of 1 to 10, but many people believe thatnumbers are set to a algo logarithmic scale. Which there is a very good reason to believe this, butno one knows for sure outside of google, now there has probably been people that have figured it outsomewhat, but to be sure, you would of had to write the Google PageRank algorithm your self.

The original algorithm for calculating PageRank was published by the founders of Google, Sergey Brin and Lawrence Page, in the paper "The Anatomy of a Large-Scale Hypertextual Web Search Engine". Although Google may well have refined the algorithm since then, we know from this paper that the PageRank of a Web page is a number calculated using a recursive algorithm in which the page receives a share of the PageRank of each page that links to it. In other words,

PageRank is a mathematical calculation that takes into account only the number of pages and the number of links on those pages in the whole Web of hyperlinks that lead to the page in question. The owner of page A wants to promote page B because it is part of his own WebsiteThe owner of page A wants to promote page B because it is another Website that he ownsThe owner of page B pays for an ad on page AThe owners exchange reciprocal links specifically to boost PageRankThe owner of page A is an affiliate of page B and receives commission on salesPage A is a news story (good or bad) about page B's Website. A business that sells a product or service on its Website will naturally receive PageRank because of affiliate links,

advertising and resources devoted to Web promotion. A Website that offers information or free services will find it much more difficult to attract incoming links, and therefore, to achieve a good PageRank. It's obviously important to a Website to be listed in the first 20 results for relevant search terms, otherwise that Website will receive very little traffic from the search engines. Google usually returns relevant results, and often returns what I would consider to be the most important Website first.
