Reverse Auctions - Be The Auction Bully
A new era of auction sites has arrived. Nowadays, people are still able to visit traditional websites and bid up items, but there are now also lots of more interesting alternatives. Options that have become increasingly popular include the likes of lowest unique bid style auctions and also reverse auctions. The unconventional format means that many people are not comfortable when it comes to using them. This is great news as it means it is even easier to win the auctions on these sites.
Reverse auction sites are fairly basic to understand. The price will begin fairly high, usually at the retail price of the product, or thereabouts. After this point, each bidder that bids will reduce the price of the auction slightly. The bidder that gets the final and lowest bid will be the winner. Bidders have to pay for each bid that they place. This might seem a little weird, but keep this in mind, as it can be used as an advantage to be much more successful when it comes to winning an auction. Essentially, those that have a strategy in place when it comes to reverse auctions will be the ones that benefit the most.
Reverse auctions can get extremely costly for people that do not know what they are doing. They could pay for 5 or 6 bids then realise that they are not going to win meaning the bid cost has been wasted. New members might be slightly scared to place bids and they are easily bullied out of an auction. As soon as they place a bid, fire back with a couple more. Keep doing this and eventually, they will shy away as they realise that the cost is increasing dramatically. A lot of the experienced bidders will do this as they know that eventually any new bidder will back down within a short period of time.
Here is the important part, it's important to choose auctions wisely. Bidding on the high volume auctions, which are usually low value items, is not always the best idea. The bid cost is minimal, so more people are going to be involved. That means that the "bully" has got lots of work to do. Focusing on higher value auctions gives an individual a much better chance of winning the auction. There will only be a few bidders in comparison and the high cost of the bidding war will soon put them off. It can be relatively easy to win a few auctions per week by using this simple strategy alone.
Budgeting for reverse auctions can be done in a range of different ways. Some people budget per auction at a set value, whereas other people might simply place a certain number of bids, regardless of the bid price. For instance, they might budget for 30 bids per auction. For some auctions this might mean a fairly minimal cost and on other auctions the cost might be significantly higher. What is important is that each budget will be relative in terms of the value of the product that is actually being auctioned. So, their discount in terms of a percentage will always be the same on a winning auction. This is a key point which many unsuccessful bidders overlook.
